30 Day Zero Waste Challenge

Day 7:

SWITCH FROM A PLASTIC TO BAMBOO TOOTHBRUSH

“Over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are produced every year worldwide.  Where do you think those plastic toothbrushes are going when you’re done with them? Many find their way into the ocean, while the rest get incinerated or buried forever in a landfill. Talk about wasted resources.”

EVERY PLASTIC TOOTHBRUSH YOU HAVE USED IN YOUR LIFETIME IS STILL INTACT IN A LANDFILL SOMEWHERE!

ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION –

Switch to a bamboo handled toothbrush never go back to a plastic handled toothbrushes again! The Brush with Bamboo brand is 100% plant-based and no plastic packaging.  Do you have another solution?

Question for Day 7:

Is recycling really like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic?

Here’s a preview for posts to come: (more on minimizing recycling in our 5-R’s) “The term was originated by Paul Palmer in the 1970’s and his Zero Waste Institute (ZWI). http://www.zerowasteinstitute.org. “ZWI considers recycling to be no more than an appendage to garbage creation and the garbage industry. Instead, ZWI calls for the redesign of all of the products… so that discard never takes place and there is no waste generated needing to be reused or recycled. Discard is seen as the critical step, a commercial and psychological transfer of responsibility which breaks the chain of custody of a product, removes its owner and subjects it to the degradation of garbage management.”
